Nine: Woman #1 Costume Process
Costuming by: Carly Bozeman
Below I provided a breakdown of my costuming process for Woman #1, played by Allison Dominguez, for the remote production Nine. This process is out of the ordinary due to COVID-19, but I felt was incredibly helpful in staying organized with my work.

1. Finding Visuals
The first step of my online costume design process was to gather visuals I felt were representative of the energy and overall appearance of Woman 1. The two images of bloodied faces are where I drew inspiration for how the actor's bruising and makeup turned out, whereas the large image on the right provides detailed descriptions of the chosen costuming visuals

2. Creating Lists

I then took the inspiration I drew from the visuals and listed out the items that needed to be purchased for makeup and costuming--(considering the pandemic, we purchased inexpensive basic clothing pieces that the actors were allowed to keep)
3. Tutorials
Normally, an in-person makeup tutorial would be provided for the actors so everyone can be on the same page on how to apply their character's makeup. In the case of the pandemic, I met with my Director, SM, and both actors over Zoom to give a virtual tutorial while presenting my bruising documents. This eye bruising document was mainly used for Woman #1's Act 2 makeup look.

4. Creating
Finally, after receiving 2 basic white tank tops and two pairs of basic grey sweatpants from Amazon, I used a kabuki brush to distribute brown eyeshadows and Texas Dirt Powder all over both sets. Then, I created cuts and clear modifications to both sets in order to distinguish Act 1 from Act 2. To finish everything off, I applied stage blood on certain areas for Act 2 because Woman #1 had just been brutally beaten
